Rules

  1. In order to participate, you have to register at http://www.affinimeter.com/challenge and create an AFFINImeter user account (if you already have an account it is no necessary to register a new one).
  2. Your analysis for this challenge should be included in a project named CHALLENGE 2014. Find out how to create a project in AFFINImeter in the video tutorial “HOW TO prepare a FIT subproject” (http://www.affinimeter.com/video_tutorials).
  3. Once you complete the analysis, send us (challenge@affinimeter.com) your final result using the option SHARE of the corresponding subproject. IMPORTANT: do not edit or re-run the subproject after submitted: If you do so the existing data will be overwritten with the modification and hence, we will lose the results. If you want to improve your solution taking it as a reference just make a copy of the subproject and edit/re-run the copy.
  4. The due date to submit the result is December 20th January 31st.
  5. The winner of the contest will be awarded with a Kindle Fire 7" HD and a free registration to the upcoming II international Workshop on Isothermal Titration Calorimetry Developments, WIDEN ITC.
  6. The jury members will be composed of experts in the field of ITC analysis, including the AFFINImeter Scientific team and some of our Scientific advisors.
  7. The winning analysis will be decided by our jury based on:
    • The quality of the result obtained in terms of the description of the isotherms.
    • The method proposed to end up with an optimum/robust analysis: binding model selected, fitting parameters and settings.
    • If several participants reach the optimum result, the jury members will propose a method to break the tie. This could be, for instance, a request for an additional analysis.
  8. The challenge solution will be published in our web site. The name of the winner will not be published without his/her explicit authorization.
  9. The files containing the binding isotherms proposed for this challenge have been specifically prepared for this aim. AFFINImeter reserves the right to use them, as well the analysis reported by the participants, to generate material for educational purposes such as tutorials, technical or supporting information.
